Emergency Medical Services and "Psych Calls" - PCRF Journal Club

September 18, 2015
This month, PCRF Director David Page led our discussion of "Emergency Medical Services and 'Psych Calls': Examining the Work of Urban EMS Providers," a study by Christopher Prener and Alisa K. Lincoln of Northeastern University.

Published online in advance of its print publication in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, this article presents "an analysis of the ways in which EMS providers interact with people with mental illness and substance abuse problems, as well as providers’ experiences with the mental health care system." We were joined by an amazing, large group of panelists for a fascinating discussion about the stigma of homelessness and the role EMS providers play.

The PCRF Journal Club convenes on the second Monday of each month.
