The Portfolio gathers information from different aspects of a student’s course, including exam scores, highlights from the Goals report, and overall competencies, into one central location. Depending on your account permissions, you can use the Portfolio to review and edit all important aspects of a student’s internship, export the information for final review, and store additional student documents as attachments.

To view and manage any aspect of a student’s records, first open the student’s portfolio by clicking the Choose from arrow, then clicking the student name. To narrow your range of students to choose from, click the Filters arrow, and complete the fields. Once you’ve selected the student portfolio you want to view, use the tabs along the side of the page to work with the Portfolio features.

 

Compliance Status

The student's Compliance Status tells you whether or not the student is compliant to attend their shifts. The requirements for compliance are set by your program. This feature simply allows you to see the student's status for each requirement before you schedule them for a shift. This feature also allows you to alert the student to current or upcoming compliance issues. 

The Compliance Status area summarizes the student's compliance status for each requirement set by the program, and the types of sites they are cleared to go to. To see what sites the student is compliant to go to, click the See list button. The list of requirements can be found with additional details under the Requirements section.

 

Overall Competency

This section provides an online version of the CoAEMSP Terminal Competency Form, providing a trackable overview of the student's progress toward completing all competencies required for graduation from an accredited paramedic education program. The fields should be completed only by a course program director and/or medical director. To print the document for signing by a qualified medical director, click the Export Option tab, select the desired options, then click the Get PDF button.

Sections of this form correspond to the Overall Competency tabs along the left side of the Portfolio page. Add a checkmark to each requirement only after the student has successfully passed it. Under Student passed required written examination, enter each required written exam that the student must pass. Under Practical Skills Sheets, click the Details link to see all Lab Practice details for a particular student, including Practice Items and Scenario Topic Areas. Under Clinical Tracking Records, click the Details link to see all Affective Evaluations performed by the student, their peers, or their educators. Under Field Internship Tracking Records, click the Details link to see all internship Tracking Records for this student. Under Affective Learning Domain Evaluations, click the Details link to see all Lab Practice details for a particular student, inlcuding Practice Items and Scenario Topic Areas.

After a student graduates, you can also use this section to record important outcomes, including their passing a National Registry or State certification, securing related employment, and completing an employer or a graduate survey.

Exams

Use this section to see the student's scores for secure exams and practice exams and quizzes, and to access the Learning Prescription for each one. To see all exams for all students, navigate to the Retrieve Scores tab of the Learning Center. 

Lab Practice

Use this section to view all Lab Practice skills and the number of peer- or instructor-evaluated passes the student has accomplished. You can also see how many Lab Shifts (including lab practice hours) the student has attended. 

To see a report that lists all of the student's Lab Practice skills, organized by practice area, click the Lab Practice report link on the right. A report is run, listing all evaluated Lab Practices the student has performed, along with details about each event, whether they passed, and who performed the evaluation. You can click the PDF or CSV button to save a copy of this report. You can click the Goals link in the top right to view metrics on the student's progress toward Lab Goals and Graduation Requirements. 

To see all available evaluations for a particular student, click the Evals & Skill Sheets link under Complete Evaluation Archive. This opens the Evals & Skill Sheets category of the Reports tab for that student.

Internship Records

Use this section to see a summary of all skills, organized by objective, that a student has succeeded in performing or interpreting. The Shifts area in the upper right displays a breakdown of clinical hours, field hours, and lab practice that a student has completed. The Internship Records tab does not summarize skills that were attempted and failed. To see that information, as well as other details, click the Skills Report link on the right to run a report.
 

Affective Evaluations

This section summarizes all affective evaluations performed by a student, a student’s educators, a student’s peers, and includes the average score for each evaluation.

The Attendance area in the top right provides a breakdown of the number of shifts for which the student was tardy, absent, and absent with permission. Click the Graduation Requirements report to see a detailed report of the student’s progress in meeting all skill, patient, and evaluation requirements. Click the Evals & Skill Sheets link under Complete Evaluation Archive, to open the Evals & Skill Sheets category of the Reports tab, where you can see all available evaluations for a student.

 

Attachments and Export

Students can upload attachments from their computer to the portfolio, and instructors with their program will be able to see all uploaded files. Uploaded documents will not be exported with the rest of the portfolio on export.

Attachments are intended for use within the portfolio only. This feature provides a convenient location for you to store documents related to a student’s progress, such as PDFs, Word documents, and images, that you may want to see when viewing a student’s portfolio.

To attach a file, click the Choose file button, then navigate to the desired file on your computer, and click Open in the dialog box. Type a description if you wish in the Description box, then click the Upload button. Note that you cannot change the filename of an attachment within Fisdap. If you want to change the filename, first change it using your computer’s file management system, such as Windows Explorer or the Finder in macOS.

Once a document is attached to a student’s portfolio, it is listed on this page. Any files the student has uploaded to their portfolio are also listed here. To view any attachment, click the filename in the list. To delete any attachment, click the Delete icon to the right of the filename.

 

Export Options

 Use this section to export available Portfolio materials into a single PDF. You most often need this feature at the end of a student’s program to generate a document you can print or share for a Program Director and/or Medical Director to sign.

To generate the PDF, first click all desired checkboxes to include the related materials, such as the student’s About page, Compliance status, Learning Prescriptions, and Summaries

After you make your selections, click the Get PDF button. All selected materials will be combined in a single PDF, with an area for a Medical Director and Program Director to sign after review.

 

Portfolio Permissions

Students have permission to edit the data in their own portfolio, including the card course certifications found on the Overall Competency form.
Instructor accounts must have "View all data" permission in order to view student portfolios and must have the "Edit portfolio" permission to change any data.

Add Your Own Picture to the Portfolio

Fisdap uses a popular third party avatar service called Gravatar to display profile pictures.  Fisdap will automatically display your Gravatar picture if your Fisdap email address and Gravatar email address match.

To set up or change a Gravatar image:

  1. Navigate to the Gravatar home page by clicking here.
  2. For a new Gravatar account, click sign up for free.  To edit an existing account, login with your email address (which should be the same as your Fisdap accoun​t).
  3. Select an image or upload your own image using Gravatar's image upload tool.
