Provider Transition CourseBy Rachael Rosen

October 11, 2012

Fisdap, in cooperation with Inver Hills Community College and three local EMS agencies, is developing an online, interactive course to transition providers to the National Education Standards. This training course has been designed by subject matter experts (including EMTs, paramedics, nurses and physicians) to meet all the transition requirements of the 2009 National EMS Education Standards Gap Analysis Template.

Watch our webinar recording to learn more about how this transition course can easily provide you the training necessary to transition from EMT-Basic to EMT, EMT-Intermediate to AEMT, and EMT-P to paramedic.

All Fisdap exams will be unavailable Friday, August 3 - Sunday, August 5By Rachael Rosen

August 1, 2012

Fisdap's developers have been busy making improvements to the way we deliver exams. Many of our customers have asked if we can make our exams more closely mimic the experience of the NREMT. In response to this, we have added a couple features, including a timer and only displaying one question at a time--instead of a full page with 10 questions. Our exams have not, however, been altered to be computer adaptive. We will still give students the same valid, reliable and predictive content that we always have and continue to offer students their Learning Prescriptions. If you would like more information about these changes, please sign up for our August 21st webinar.

These changes will go live on Monday, August 6th. To prepare for this launch, Fisdap exams will be unavailable the weekend of August 3-5.

All Fisdap exams, including comprehensive exams, unit exams, and the practice exams in Study Tools will be unavailable.

Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Introducing the first ever Fisdap Entrance Exam for Prospective Paramedic StudentsBy Rachael Rosen

July 11, 2012
Available now for FREE pilot testing.

Does your school currently utilize an entrance exam to predict whether an applicant will successfully complete your paramedic program? By and large, many schools do not. Fisdap listened to the EMS community’s requests for an entrance exam specific to paramedicine.

PRE 4 now available for FREE pilot testing. By Rachael Rosen

February 16, 2012
We are excited to announce the release of the Paramedic Readiness Exam 4 (PRE 4) for pilot testing. This exam has gone through Fisdap’s content validation phase and is now ready for your students’ attempts. Your participation is critical to validating this exam, so pilot tests are free for your students. Instructors can schedule this exam in the Test Scheduler tool--look at the bottom of the test drop down menu options for “Pilot Exams.”

This new comprehensive exam (PRE 4) reflects the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines and the new Education Standards. The PRE 4 contains 200 multiple choice items and covers the 6 content areas from the NREMT’s 2009 National EMS Practice Analysis.

Participation in pilot testing is a great opportunity to give students additional exposure to critical thinking items, but we don't provide cut scores or Learning Prescriptions during pilot testing.

Contribute to EMS educational research by checking your students for good data.By Rachael Rosen

January 18, 2012

We wish all Fisdap instructors could attend the Research Summit, but even if you can't make it to this year's conference, you can make research happen by auditing your student data.

On February 10th and 11th, educators from around the country will convene in Minneapolis for the 2012 Fisdap Research Summit, an annual event where participants use Fisdap data to conduct critical EMS educational research.

We need your support! Please take some time to update your student records before February 3rd.
