Remember to set the graduation status of students from 2006By Rachael Rosen

January 3, 2007

In preparation for the Research Summit next month, we ask instructors to remember to set the graduation status of your 2006 students. Instructors can quickly access this by clicking on the Admin button on the top black bar and then the Grad Status button on the left side. If you have questions please contact support [at] fisdap [dot] net.

Students if your account has expired but you still need access to enter your FISDAP data, check with your instructor to ensure that the graduation date is entered correctly.

FISDAP Handheld UpdateBy Rachael Rosen

December 13, 2006
On the morning of Wednesday, December 13, we updated the FISDAP Handheld software.

When you sync your PDA for the first time after the update takes place, instructions to complete the update will be downloaded to your PDA. If you have any questions, please contact your FISDAP support person.

FISDAP Feature UpgradeBy Rachael Rosen

October 15, 2006

In an effort to improve FISDAP's security and ease-of-use, we have added a feature that will allow you to log out of your FISDAP account. Beginning October 9th, you will notice a "log out" link in the top, right corner of the FISDAP Web pages.

Please note that:

- You will need to click on the "Log In" link on the FISDAP home page to enter the restricted areas of the site. After logging in, the My FISDAP page will automatically appear and you can continue to navigate the site as before.

- Your session will "time out" if it has been inactive for longer than 60 minutes, and you will be asked to log in again. Any unsaved information will be lost.

- When using this feature for the first time, you will need to enter your FISDAP username and password (even if your computer had previously "remembered" your password for you).

- Your Web browser will need to have "session cookies" enabled. Session cookies are used for online authentication by institutions such as banks, and will be deleted when your browser is closed.

As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

Congratulations to the participants in the January 2006 Research Summit!By Rachael Rosen

The summit enabled a diverse group of EMS educators to conduct research using FISDAP data. All four abstracts from the summit were presented at the 11th annual NAEMSE symposium in Pittsburgh last week. In particular, we would like to acknowledge Josh Salzman, Justin Dillingham, Jenny Kobersteen, Koren Kaye and David Page, winners of the best research award; as well as David Page, Baxter Larmon and Timothy Howey, winners of the best presentation award.

The four abstracts submitted were:

The Effects of Paramedic Student Internship Experience on Performance on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Exam.
Investigators: Josh Salzman, Justin Dillingham, Jenny Kobersteen, Koren Kaye, and David Page.

A Chance to Lead: Does having fewer paramedic preceptors result in more student leadership?

2006 FISDAP Research Summit a Great Success

Thank you to all of the participants, many of whom bravely left warmer climates to travel to Minnesota in January! We'd also like to thank Baxter Larmon and Gregg Margolis who inspired us all to greater achievements; the folks at Regions Hospital and Mary Kay Margolis for their generous, professional support; and our gracious hosts, the staff of Inver Hills Community College. Lastly, we'd like to thank the entire FISDAP community for contributing the data that made the Research Summit possible.

Thanks also to Brady for contributing to the 2006 FISDAP Research Summit.
